ARDEN, N.C. – In his latest book “Your Story Counts: Sharing the Most Important Story of Your Life,” Dr. John B. Sorensen, president of Evangelism Explosion International (www.evangelismexplosion.org), demonstrates how the power of story is a simple, yet effective approach to telling others about Jesus.

The book urges Christians to use their own testimonies — or stories — of what God has done in their own lives to reach others with the message of the gospel. Sorensen shows readers how to easily develop, prepare and deliver their stories, and how these stories have unique and unquestionable power. “Your Story Counts” also includes numerous testimonies from people about how God worked in their lives and brought them to the point where they know they have eternal life.

“For most Christians, the idea of ‘sharing your faith’ or ‘doing evangelism’ is an intimidating venture,” Sorensen said. “What I wanted to do with ‘Your Story Counts’ is break down these walls of intimidation and demonstrate to Christians that telling others about Christ is as simple as telling people your story. This approach doesn’t require you to answer every theological objection to Christianity. It just requires a willingness to share with others your personal journey.”

A companion website to “Your Story Counts” is being developed for Christians to write their stories in order to tell others about what God has done — and is doing — in their lives.

“Once Christians discover how simple it is to tell others their stories, they will quickly gain the necessary confidence and skill to make this act part of their everyday lives,” Sorensen said. “Just imagine the number of lives we could impact for Christ if every believer adopted this simple yet effective approach to communicating Christ?”

Founded in 1962 by Dr. D. James Kennedy, Evangelism Explosion has trained millions of people in churches across America on how to share their faith. The ministry uses several different components, including prayer, practical training opportunities and the principle of spiritual multiplication. In 2013, nearly eight million people came to faith through Evangelism Explosion efforts around the world.

Sorensen joined Evangelism Explosion in 1997 and became president in 2008. He co-authored “Well Done” with Dr. Kennedy.   Sorensen received a Master of Arts degree in Evangelism and Doctor of Divinity from Knox Theological Seminary. As president of Evangelism Explosion International, he travels to more than two dozen countries each year.

Evangelism Explosion (www.evangelismexplosion.org) is a ministry that trains people how to share their faith in Christ and how to bring people from unbelief to belief. It utilizes a variety of components including prayer, actual on-the-job training where the experienced lead the inexperienced, and the principle of spiritual multiplication.
