Let’s Make Rhode Island the Next State to Label GMOs!

Let’s Make Rhode IslandDear Friends,

Three bills that would require mandatory labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in foods sold in Rhode Island have had hearings, but are now stuck in committee. It’s time to turn up the heat on your state legislators for GMO labeling in Rhode Island!

House bills 5078 and 5197 are currently in the House Health, Education and Welfare Committee and Senate Bill 549 is being held in the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.

All three bills deliver the same message—that we have a right to know what is in our food, a right that is upheld by 64 countries across the globe that already label genetically modified foods.

These bills can’t move forward to full House and Senate votes until they are voted on by their respective committees.

Passing more state laws requiring mandatory labels on genetically modified foods is a crucial step in the campaign to drive GMOs and toxic agrichemicals, such as Monsanto’s Roundup, off the market.

Contact your lawmakers today! Urge them to take action and move these GMO labeling bills forward at the state legislature!
