“That Day” – Christmas 2018

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (Lk. 2: 7)

Dear Friend of Life,

It all came back to her the moment she walked into our waiting room. “Maria” was on her way to St. Patrick’s just before Thanksgiving and dropped in to say thank you.

She would never forget “that day” thirteen years ago when, also on her way to St. Patrick’s, Maria saw our sign and came in. The next 30 minutes would change her life forever.

It was Maria’s first pregnancy. She had moved to Rhode Island from out of state with her then-boyfriend. He left her after she told him she was pregnant. Alone and scared, Maria thought her only option was to abort… until “that day” when she met Peggy, my predecessor.

Peggy invited Maria to sit and talk. Maria discovered that she was not alone. Peggy assured her that she and Right to Life Services would be with her every step of the way.

A few tears and hugs later, Maria left with the confidence that she could raise her unborn child. Now, thirteen years later, she can not imagine life without her firstborn son.

Maria wanted me to tell Peggy how well she, her firstborn, and her three subsequent children are all doing. She promised to send photos when he graduates from high school in a few years.

Your generous Christmas contribution, for which I am so thankful, enables us to continue assuring pregnant mothers there will be room for them at this “inn” — and that our door will be open on “that day” when they need help to Choose Life.
