By Chris Neale

North Kingstown, Rhode Island – Effective July 1, 2016, Reverend Ken Amador became the new face leading and caring for the families and students of West Bay Christian Academy (WBCA) as the school enters its 35th year.

Ken is a dynamic leader and a committed servant of God. This Navy Chaplain veteran has spent 17-plus years working a wonderfully varied ministry to sailors and Marines stationed in the United States and all over the world while he completed six deployments abroad including two in combat zones: Iraq and Afghanistan. Ken is joining WBCA as he wraps up his tenure at Boston Baptist College as professor of Biblical studies. He is completing his dissertation for the doctorate of ministry degree in Christian Leadership from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary this year. He and his wife Gwendolyn have been married for over 30 years and have been blessed with two children: Trevor, eighteen and Mikenna, fifteen.

Ken will seek to create relevant opportunities for children to hear the hope of the Gospel to counteract our society’s rampant and destructive self-centered philosophy. “Ken has a unique skillset that combines compassion and leadership, which make him a perfect fit for WBCA,” said Pastor Jason Walden, WBCA’s President of the Board of Trustees since 2012.

Ken’s goal is to connect WBCA’s superb faculty and staff, the school’s rich history, students and families both current and past, the long-term intra-denominational relationships of 40+ churches, and various Christian business owners together in prayer and communication. Ken’s desire is to propel the Pre-K – Grade 8 institution, with over 180 students, into one of the premiere Christian elementary and middle schools in Rhode Island, ensuring that WBCA is “Distinctively Christian and Academically Excellent” in all aspects. With God in control and Ken at the helm, there are great things in store for WBCA!

West Bay Christian Academy is an independent intra-denominational Christian school that serves families with children in Preschool through 8th Grade. The Academy provides an engaging academic program in a nurturing, Christian environment. To learn more about West Bay Christian Academy, please visit www.wbca.info.
