A Night of Fellowship-cufi-logo“God is still using this building” states Stan Winman, a member of Christians United for Israel (CUFI) and of Praise Tabernacle Church, 330 Park Avenue, Cranston. The church’s location was formerly the Temple Torat Yisrael, which relocated too East Greenwich.

Stan’s comment came at the start of a recent planning meeting for a unique event of fellowship with the Christian and Jewish local communities. Pastor Allen Pangburn of Praise Tabernacle (PT) is Rhode Island’s state CUFI representative and PT is home to a number of CUFI members.

Christians United for Israel was established by Pastor John Hagee, and is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States with over two million members and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world.

In 2014 Rhode Island members of CUFI started to discuss the idea of hosting “A Night to Honor Israel. However until the past few months they didn’t have any established relationships within the local Jewish community. Then, almost out of nowhere, Pastor Pangburn was contacted by Stephanie Feld, former President of StandWithUs-RI, a  activist pro-Israel group. “Would the CUFI members be interested in meeting with us?” she asked Pastor Pangburn, and she was responded to warmly with an “absolutely yes” answer.

Following an introductory meeting with the Pastor, a working relationship was established with Stan Winman, PT’s CUFI congregation organizer. As a result, we are having a Fellowship Night (where the love of Israel will be shared from both the Jewish and Christian perspectives) at Praise Tabernacle. Everyone from both the Christian and Jewish communities is welcome to join us On Sunday May 31st, 330 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, 7 PM.

Presenters from StandWithUs will include Irving Schild, a Holocaust survivor, IDF Major Eldar Borer, who served in the 2014 Gaza, Israeli folk music by Stan Freedman, and Pastor Pangburn MC the night and share about his recent trip to Israel.

“This is a unique event, the first of what we expect to be many”, said Stan. Again, everyone from the local Christian and Jewish communities is welcome to attend and show their support and friendship for Israel.
