The return to school this fall will prove to be challenging in many ways because of COVID-19. Both Rhode Island and Massachusetts schools do not yet have a clear plan. What we do know is that it will probably vary by city and COVID status.
But the physical health of our children should not be the only thing to factor into your decision of where to send your child to school.
Increasingly our schools are giving our children an education that is void of moral and ethical values – and especially Christian values. There is a strong LGBTQ lobby in our state pushing for these sorts of initiatives. For example, many Rhode Island schools are using a comprehensive sex education curriculum (CSE) that certainly does not convey the moral values you want your child to learn.
Parents with children in a school teaching CSE – or an area implementing other radical policies – may have to ask themselves some hard questions. Should young children be taught to challenge gender stereotypes? Should public school districts have policies preventing school staff from disclosing to parents any information related to their child’s gender identity? Should students have unfettered access to the bathroom, locker room, or changing facility based on their gender identity and not their biological sex? Should schools provide information to students about how to access an abortion?
The LGBT lobby has an agenda to capture the minds of our youngest children, and CSE is one way they can do it. It’s happened already in California.
Our friends at California Family Council wrote recently that “Looking at the data by age, nearly 16% of 18 to 24-year-olds identified themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or something else, as did more than 10% of 25 to 34-year-olds. Among high schoolers, more than 1/10 of every large racial and ethnic group identified themselves as a sexual minority by identity or behavior in a recent survey. And, nearly 30% of CA young people are confused about their gender. California mandated Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) to be taught in their schools several years ago and we are seeing the results.”
Of course, there may be other factors at play for many of those children – but there is no denying that children and youth are impressionable.
Perhaps you or other parents are concerned by this prognosis and feel it’s time to pursue Christian education for your children. If you are looking for Christian schools in Rhode Island, below are some options to jumpstart your search*. The costs range from $2,500 to $15,000.

We understand that some may not be in the financial position to make this change for their children. That’s why it is so vital that we begin to move toward school choice options that will enable families to send their children to schools that perform better or better align with their values – without breaking the bank to do so.
Romans 8:28 says “The Lord is able to work all things together for good…” All things – including COVID-19.
As school is in flux this year due to COVID-19, it seems the Lord may have provided a perfect time to pave the way for school choice options! Educational freedom is something we are fighting for at Family Policy Alliance, and we hope to maximize the opportunity the Lord has given us to fight for this opportunity in COVID-19.
As we fight for families in the education sphere and beyond, would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? Our goal is $50k by September 30th, the end of our fiscal year and we need $15,359 to reach it. Would you prayerfully consider helping us reach our goal?
Gratefully,
