First Liberty Institute is the largest legal organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to defending religious liberty for all Americans. They recently published a study entitled: Undeniable: The Survey of Hostility to Religion in America. The following is an abbreviation of the intro to their study…
THE TIME FOR DENIAL IS PAST
To deny that religious freedom is in crisis in America is to deny the obvious…. the total number of documented incidents in this report increased by over 15 percent over the past year and now includes more than 1,400 religious liberty incidents.
The whole study is available on FPA’s Website www.FamilyPolicyAlliance.com If you are wondering whether it’s worth the work to establish these FPC’s across the nation, reading it will remove any doubts and provide motivation for this work in Rhode Island.
UPDATE from Paul Weber… We have received several financial commitments from the Christian business community that have brought us to about 40% of funds needed to begin. More commitments are expected and we continue to follow up on contacts as you provide them. Also, we have a strong candidate for the Executive Director position but that will only happen as the funding allows. So, please continue to make that a matter of prayer. Paul will return for a short visit to RI – November 6-8.
Church Financial Support is our next Goal… FPA’s recent newsletter reveals ActBlue, pioneered online giving for a host of liberal organizations and causes. ActBlue has now raised nearly $2 billion for those causes. But the amazing thing – besides the huge amount of money – is that their average donation size is just $28! It begs the question… “What if pro-family people all over America banded together every month to support biblical values and pro-family policies and candidates?”
The battle may ‘seem’ especially overwhelming here in New England but may I remind you of a verse that reminds us who the battle really belongs to… Isaiah 59:19-20 (NKJV) When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. The Redeemer will come to Zion.”
If you are a pastor, would you ask your missions committee to support RI Family Policy Council with monthly support? We need at least 10 Churches who will support RI FPC at $100 per month and many more who will support at $25 & $50 monthly.
